TerraBlu Home Care offer a variety of services, including some that many people are not aware of. To ensure that our staff are trained in medical techniques, they are given regular training to keep up with CQC standards of care. Our carers enjoy being supported in their roles to make sure their time with clients run smoothly and that they have the necessary skills to provide the best possible level of care. Read on to learn about the training our carers, working in Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge, have recently had.
Proud of the care we provide our clients
The role of a home carer can be extremely varied and involves social and personal care. Sometimes we are called upon to make a phone call to check up on a client, whilst other times they are making home visits to help cook meals, assist in day-to-day household chores or assist with more complex medical needs. For the latter we must ensure our wonderful carers are trained in the correct way and meet the highest level of standards.
What type of training do we provide our care team?
We hold regular training in our HQ in Tunbridge Wells and bring in experts where necessary to ensure the staff are correctly briefed and supported in providing the right level of care to our wonderful. During October, we ran training in Diabetes care and autism care.
Diabetes care training
Diabetes training is carried out to ensure that all our staff are confident in using insulin pens and are educated on how to take clients’ blood sugar levels. By having this training, our carers can help support any clients with diabetes by knowing correctly how to take their blood sugar levels, which means less complications occur. Dementia training
This training is carried out to help support and engage with those living with dementia. The training covers how to help with signposting, ways to communicate, help with anxiety and confusion, talking with clients about their older memories which can bring them comfort. Not only does the training help our staff learn about and understand what the disease is, but it also provides the necessary skills and knowledge to deal with the condition effectively and confidently.
Stoma and catheter training
Stoma and catheter use is essential for some of our clients who need continence support, either in the short term or long term. The stoma and catheter care training teaches our carers the importance of maintaining effective infection control procedures whilst providing support, privacy, dignity and respect for the client.

Supporting our staff through professional development
Here at TerraBlu, we feel passionate about supporting our staff to help them progress in their career. We are pleased to announce that Netta Sceal, Deputy Care Manager, passed her Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care (England) in July. Ellie, Senior Care Co-ordinator recently completed her Level 4 Diploma in Adult Care (England) in August.
