As springtime begins, so do the celebrations. And who better to celebrate than the wonderful maternal figures in your life? Motherly love is certainly something we value greatly at TerraBlu, and a trait that all our carers have in volumes! We have complied together a list of six ways to make your mum feel special this Mother’s Day…
Fresh air always lifts the spirit. Spring is a wonderful time to visit a park, have a leisurely walk and look for all those lovely spring flowers. You could even take advantage of the beautiful weather and prepare a picnic for you both to enjoy, this is a great option to enjoy some tasty treats surrounded by nature.
It's time to repay your mother for years of preparing your favourite dishes. Keep her out of the kitchen this Mother’s Day and gather the ingredients for her favourite starter, main and dessert and whip up something you know she’ll love. Why not invite the rest of the family along to make it extra special?
Why not buy your mum something that she can enjoy throughout the year. After all, we should appreciate our mums every day, not just on Mothers’ Day. Whether she would love a pamper session, massages, appreciates a day out shopping, or would enjoy a spot of dinner , think about what she would enjoy and give her something to look forward to, and, most importantly, another date in the diary which she can spend time with you
Who said candlelit dinners should be just for couples, make this Mother’s Day a date for you two. Make a reservation at her favourite local spot and have an evening of good food and good company – with no washing-up in sight!
Flowers have always been a classic Mother’s Day gift, and for good reason. They look great, they smell great and pretty much everyone loves them. Picking out a bouquet of your mum’s favourite flowers is an easy and simple way to show your appreciation and brings fresh blooms indoors. There has even been scientific proof that receiving a bouquet is a mood booster!
Collect your favourite pictures together and put them together in a scrapbook. Not only is this a truly heart-warming gift but is a great idea for more senior mothers who may need help recalling memories. Compiling a photobook can be done by hand, or there are lots of websites who can help with your quest to deliver the perfect photo album!
Mother’s Day is a time when we honour the women who shaped our personalities, encouraged us through difficult times and celebrated achievements big and small. However, if it is more of a reflective day for you – as it will be for some of our clients and carers – our thoughts are with you.
We hope that whatever y our circumstances you enjoy the day with family or friends, but we would also ask, if you are seeing your elderly mother this Mother’s Day, to pay attention to her health and wellbeing. If you have any concerns, please get in touch. We’re always happy to give informal advice about how best to support elderly loved ones – or visit our website for a whole range of helpful articles.
