A joyous trip down memory lane for local Frant resident

In honour of TerraBlu’s 20 years’ anniversary, we have asked every member of our staff to pledge 20 minutes of their own time to do something nice for one of their clients. It could be anything from making them a cup of tea and having a chat, a spot of gardening or helping them find that jigsaw piece! We were especially impressed with our carer, Laura, who decided to take her client, Helen, on a special trip down memory lane.

Laura’s ‘20 minutes of kindness’ treats Helen to lunch in Frant

Helen was born and raised in the small village of Frant, East Sussex, as were her parents, and so she holds the village very close to her heart. She has seen the village and the community change over the years. Helen’s carer, Laura, has forged a wonderful friendship with Helen over the years. As Helen rarely gets out much by herself nowadays, Laura was delighted to collect Helen from her home and accompany her on a walk around Frant and then to The George pub for some lunch, as her ‘20 minute act of kindness’.

‘We sat together and had a lovely meal. Helen had beer battered fish and chips followed by a pudding with ice cream. I had delicious a fish pie, followed by a crumble and ice cream. Helen said that when she was younger, she spent a lot of time in The George, as her friends’ parents were the owners. She used to love running around the pub and playing in the garden with her friends, pretending they were running the place,’ says Laura.

On the way back, Helen took Laura past the village well and explained, “I remember collecting water from the village well, as I often had to carry buckets to fetch water from it for my family.” Helen expanded, “It’s incredible how the village has changed, and I’ve been lucky enough to watch it all happen.”

“I really enjoyed our conversation together. Sharing activities such as these makes my time at TerraBlu so rewarding. It really helps to build a bigger picture of my clients so I can adapt their care around their past and present life experiences,” says Laura.

Proud of our TerraBlu team

We are constantly proud of our TerraBlu team for going above and beyond for their clients. The kindness they give and the happiness they bring to our clients is a delight to watch. “Providing excursions such as this, so our clients can visit the places they love, is one of the many services that our team of committed carers provides to ensure our elderly clients enjoy the best possible quality of life while living independently in their own homes,” explained Netta Sceal, Deputy Care Manager.

“It’s this human touch that our carers weave into the care we provide for all our clients that makes TerraBlu care so much more than delivering an agreed care plan, helping to ensure our clients can life to the full,” added Managing Director, Richard Gould.
